Dengue
- Dengue is a viral fever, which is caused after bite of infected Aedes aegypti mosquito.
- Aedes breeds in clean water collection in and around houses
- Aedes mosquito bites during the day time.
- Aedes mosquito favours hiding indoors.
- Dengue fever is a self limiting disease with recovery in 5 – 7 days.
- All Dengue fevers do not result in death, only patients with bleeding or haemorrhages are serious and need admission in hospitals.
SYMPTOMS OF DENGUE FEVER
- High grade fever
- Rash on body
- Severe body aches & headache.
- Pain behind eyes.
- Nausea and vomiting
- Bleeding
- Report to nearest Government Hospital, if there is any such symptom.
PREVENTION OF DENGUE FEVER
- Empty water coolers once a week.
- Don’t let water collect in tyres, waste utensils, pots etc.
- Avoid water collection on rooftops.
- Tightly cover the overhead water tanks.
- Sprinkle burnt oil on water collections.
- Use mosquito nets and mosquito repellents.
- Wear clothes that cover the body to avoid mosquito bites.
- Drink plenty of fluids
- Avoid use of Asprin & Ibuprofen.
